BuiltX to Build 800-Bed Girls’ Campus in Bihar in 12 Months

New Delhi, Delhi Aug 6, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - BuiltX Sustainable Design & Construction has begun construction of an 800-bed girls residential campus at Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital in Bihar, ending unsafe two-hour journeys that keep many rural women from healthcare education. The climate-smart, 85,000-sq-ft facility is slated for completion in 12 months, aiming to set a new benchmark for rural education infrastructure in India.

For thousands of young women like Priya across rural Bihar, dreams of becoming healthcare professionals are held back by risky travel. Every missed bus means a missed class, and every unsafe journey home forces families to question whether education is worth the danger.

The new campus will end that daily risk. By May 2026, students from even the most remote districts will live within walking distance of classrooms, laboratories, and sports facilities. The campus is designed for safety and durability, using earthquake-resistant engineering for Bihars high-risk seismic zone and climate-resilient features to withstand monsoon floods. Built with trusted Tata steel and ACC cement, it ensures long-term reliability while keeping costs fixed. 

Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital already performs over 65,000 eye surgeries a year, many free for those in need. The new residential facility will double enrollment in its unique Football to Eyeball programme, which combines eye care (optometry) training with football to build confidence and leadership skills. Capacity will grow from hundreds to 800 students, producing more skilled professionals to serve rural Bihars healthcare needs.
